About Us

We are an affiliate of The Gnostic Society Samael Aun Weor. We are a community dedicated to the study and living of the Gnostic teachings of Samael Aun Weor. We offer donation-based classes, courses and retreats, all with the aim of helping the awakening of consciousness and leading each to his or her Inner Being.

“Gnosis is the poetry of inner beauty, the rose of philosophy, the light of science and the mystical eternal spring.”

The Mission of Gnosticism Today

The mission of Gnosticism in this day and age is to deliver the method and means for the work of the realization of the inner Man in each one of us; the attainment of this transcendental objective depends on our cooperation with the Being.

The divorce between science, art, philosophy and mysticism has provoked the deterioration of this civilization. Thus, we do not appreciate the poetry of nature, the harmony that emanates from the universe, and even human relations have become cold: reason why our heart is unmoved by human suffering.

That is why the Gnostic teachings proposes in its theoretical-practical program of study the communion between science, art, philosophy and mysticism as the only way of rescuing the highest values of the human being, because without ethical values life would be completely empty, without transcendence, and without the realization of the profound inner Being.

This is possible by developing the superior emotion that makes science more human, art more sublime, philosophy more intuitive and mysticism more objective.

Gnosis is the light of science, the art of what is beautiful and good, and the love of wisdom, the mystical eternal spring.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the classes like?

Each class consists of a talk and a guided meditation practice. Practices range from introductory techniques for relaxation, breathing, and meditation, to keys that can be applied in daily life. No previous experience is needed.

A weekly course of 33 lessons will follow the public talks, usually continuing on the same night of the week, and will serve as a foundation for the further development of the study of esotericism and the science and ethics of meditation in a more in-depth manner.

The study and practice of Gnosis is limitless. The classes are endless. Our learning about ourselves and our spiritual nature is endless.

What kind of a commitment is required?

In regards to attending the public introductory course, anyone is welcome to attend one, some, or all of the classes being offered in the series.

For those who have an ongoing interest in studying at the Savannah Gnostic Center, weekly classes will continue and go deeper into the topics that have been introduced. As the classes and practices build on each other, consistent weekly attendance is expected.

If at any point in time you decide you no longer want to continue with the classes, you are free to stop with no further obligations.

What is the cost?

All of the Gnostic centers belonging to our organization throughout the world are non-profit and operate solely through contributions. Gnosis is not a business, and those involved in running and teaching at a center do not receive payment for their services. The work of maintaining a center is truly a labor of love.

Our public introductory classes are offered freely. For those who choose to continue with the weekly course, a contribution of $20 per class, per person is recommended to help support the expenses of maintaining the center, including rent, utilities, materials, and other operating costs. This is a recommended contribution, not a required fee. Financial limitations should never prevent someone who sincerely wishes to study Gnosis from attending classes.

Contribution also has a deeper significance within our studies. When we put energy into something—whether through money, time, work, attention, or service—we participate more fully in what we are building. We give something of ourselves, and in doing so, we create the conditions to receive something in return. The benefits of that exchange are not necessarily material; the effort we make toward sustaining the center and our studies become part of our own inner work and spiritual growth.

Some students may be able to contribute more financially, while others may contribute less and offer their time, skills, or assistance instead. There are many ways to help keep a center alive and working. What matters is the willingness to participate, contribute according to one's circumstances, and take an active role in supporting the work from which we all benefit.

What is the origin of these teachings?

Gnosis today is the modern form of an ancient system of learning, which has existed through the history of man’s presence on Earth. This wisdom was not available to the public, but was revealed only to those who had been initiated into the mysteries.

The Gnostic teachings, as taught in Gnostic Centers throughout the world today, comes from the writings and practices of a modern day teacher, Samael Aun Weor, who synthesized the precepts of the philosophers, mystics, and adepts of all times into an integrated and comprehensive system of knowledge and instruction. Gnosis, as unveiled by Samael Aun Weor, contains a synthesis of all the ancient mystery schools. The contemporary Gnostic Movement has spread rapidly since it began in the 1950’s in Columbia. Gnostic centers can be found in many countries throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia, Australia, and Africa.

What do the Gnostic teachings consist of?

The Gnostic teachings consist of a wide variety of esoteric disciplines, all of which are presented in a very practical manner. Gnosis is not just theoretical. Practices are given so that what is being learned can be verified, surpassing the boundaries of believing or disbelieving, since both lead to ignorance.  Gnosis is called the ‘Doctrine of the Synthesis,’ since it synthesizes the most essential aspects of all of the ancient mystery schools, religions, and esoteric systems of the past and present into one doctrine. Yet Gnosis is not a derivative of any one of these systems. Gnosis predates all religions and systems, and is not the property of any individual or group.

Shawn and Tracy have called the Capital Region home for the past two years, joining a Gnostic center that has been part of the area since the early 2000s. Shawn grew up here and is happy to be back among the beautiful terrain and endless hiking trails, while Tracy grew up in Florida—apparently getting the whole New York-to-Florida migration thing completely backwards. Together, they have been Gnostic instructors since 2012 and have lived and taught throughout North America. After many miles and many adventures, they’re grateful to be here and happy to serve the local Gnostic community.
